King´s pawn: Napoleon`s opening[ edit ]

title: King´s pawn: Napoleon`s opening
notation: 1. e4 e5 2. Qf3
board: show
The Napoleon Opening is an irregular chess opening starting with 1.e4 e5 2.Qf3.

The move 2.Qf3?! is dubious, not only because it develops the queen too early, but also because it deprives the knight of its best square. In amateur level games, the Napoleon Opening may lead to scholar´s mate: 2..Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.Qxf7#.

The opening is named after the French general and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte who was a fairly strong amateur chess player.
