Vasja Pirc[ edit ]

Vasja Pirc (1907 – 1980) was a leading Slovenian chess player. Although he had a minus record against Alexander Alekhine, he beat Alekhine with black pieces in Ljubljana in 1930 (moves given in Algebraic chess notation):
