William Hartston[ edit ]
William Roland Hartston (* 12. August 1947 in London) ist ein britischer Schachspieler.

William Hartston erhielt im Jahr 1973 von der FIDE den Titel Internationaler Meister verliehen. Er gewann die Britische Meisterschaft 1973 (nach Stichkampf mit Michael Basman) und 1975. Er spielte für die englische Mannschaft bei den Schacholympiaden Havanna 1966, Siegen 1970, Skopje 1972 und Nizza 1974.

  • Hastings 1972/73: 3. Platz
  • Sarajevo 1976: 1. Platz

Hartston war auch als Schachjournalist unter anderem für die BBC tätig und verfasste zahlreiche Schachbücher.
